Become a Dental Assistant in Florida!

A Dental Assistant Training Program will provide dental assistant training to students as a pathway to enter the dental profession as an entry-level dental assistant.

Before a dental assistant can be qualified to work chairside with a dentist, it is important they have the basic dental knowledge of dental assisting terminology and skills.  The 12 Week Entry Level Dental Assistant Training Program is given in a Blended/Hybrid format with most of the didactic information given online on our website requiring students to attend class in person only one day per week for the clinical hands-on skills of dental assisting to provide students the knowledge and professionalism that it takes to be a part of the dental workforce in this exciting healthcare field of Dental Assisting.

The objective of a dental assistant program is to provide students the opportunity for a career in the dental field where they can work alongside a dentist and be able to perform a wide variety of dental assisting duties. A program will prepare students for an entry-level position in the dental field. The materials presented in a program are delivered in a “hands-on,” approach in an actual dental office. Students are evaluated on their ability to perform the necessary clinical procedures delegated to a dental assistant in the dental office.

Skills learned in a dental assistant program will be reinforced through a 200-hour externship (completed within a minimum of 3 months and maximum of 6 months) in a dental office of your choice with any Florida Licensed Dentist. Once the in person portion has been completed (1 day per week), they can begin their 200 hour Externship or students can begin their externship once they have completed half of the Program. Students will be trained in the areas of dental terminology, patient care, and chair side dental assisting.

After the 12 week course and a 200 hour externship is completed students will be awarded their Florida Dental Assistant Certifications in Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) and Dental Radiology.

Certifications Given: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) Certification and Dental Radiology Certification.
