Ready to Get Your EFDA Certification in Florida?
Earn your Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification in one day and meet Florida requirements with a fast, efficient certification process designed for experienced dental assistants. This course requires at least 3 months of experience.
Certification Overview
This course is divided into two required parts:
Part 1: Online Exam
You will complete the EFDA state board exam online (50 questions). Study materials are provided upon registration, and the exam must be submitted at least 48 hours before your scheduled hands-on session. A passing score of 75% or higher is required to proceed.
Part 2: Clinical Assessment
This portion takes place in person at our training facility and evaluates your ability to perform EFDA procedures. Students will complete a series of required procedures, and an instructor will review all work for accuracy. While this is not an instructional course, instructors are available throughout the session to assist and answer questions as needed. You will also complete a paper-based dental charting test as part of the evaluation. To be eligible for certification, students must be proficient in performing Expanded Functions procedures in a clinical setting
Once both parts are successfully completed, you will receive your Florida EFDA Certification.
This is a hybrid certification course. The informational modules and State Board Exam for the Expanded Functions Certification must be completed online (Part 1) before attending the in-person clinical hands-on lab portion (Part 2) at our facility on the date you select at registration.
Upon demonstrating competency in the clinical hands-on lab and achieving a score of 75% or higher on both online exams, you will be awarded a Florida Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) Certification.
Eligibility Requirements:
-
A minimum of 3 months of on-the-job training in a dental office is required before attending this course.
-
You must be able to perform EFDA procedures independently in Part 2 (see the Performance Checklist for procedures required to be completed during Part 2).

This is a Certification Course, not a training course. You will be performing EFDA procedures for evaluation, and we are certifying your competency. You may perform the procedures as you were originally taught.

Important Note: This course does not provide instruction on how to perform EFDA procedures. It is solely designed to certify that you are competent in completing them.
