Our 6-Week Orthodontic Dental Assistant Training Course is a hands-on course designed for experienced dental assistants looking to grow their dental field knowledge with a focus on orthodontics. This course does not include tests or textbooks; however, students are required to print handouts and complete weekly homework assignments. This course is ideal for those who already have experience in the dental field and wish to enhance their skills and career opportunities within orthodontic practices.

This program follows a hands-on training approach, allowing students to gain practical experience in orthodontic procedures. Unlike traditional lecture-based programs, this course is structured to immerse students in real-world orthodontic assisting techniques through direct, supervised practice in a clinical setting.

Class Time: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Schedule: In-Person Classes 1 Day Per Week

Tuition: $900
Financing Available: $350 deposit + weekly payments of $110 for 6 weeks
Financial aid/grants not accepted (due to low tuition cost)

• Taking preliminary and post-treatment photographs

• Selecting and pre-sizing orthodontic bands

• Selecting and pre-sizing archwires as prescribed by the dentist

• Selecting extra-oral appliances through pre-selection or pre-measurement

• Preparing tooth surfaces with conditioning agents for orthodontic appliances

• Removing and recementing properly contoured, well-fitting loose bands not permanently attached to any appliance

• Making impressions for study models used in the fabrication of orthodontic retainers

• Placing and removing prescribed pre-treatment separators

• Securing or unsecuring an archwire by attaching or removing the fastening device

• Removing excess cement from orthodontic appliances using non-mechanical hand instruments only

• Placing a lingual bar retainer

This course is intended for individuals with prior dental experience who are looking to expand their expertise in orthodontics. Students, at minimum, are expected to know the following:

• PPE
• OSHA
• HIPAA
• Sterilization Techniques and Practices
• Exposing Digital Dental X-rays
• Teeth Names, Numbers, and Surfaces
• Patient Care
• Standard Precautions
• Taking Alginate Impressions
• Pouring Study Models

If you are new to the dental field, we recommend starting with our 12 Week Entry Level Dental Assistant Training Program. The 12 Week Program will allow you to gain experience and knowledge on important dental assistant procedures, protocols, and techniques that are essential to being able to understand and pass the 6 Week Orthodontic Assistant Training Course. The 12 Week Entry Level Dental Assistant Training Program will also award you with the required dental assistant Certifications (Expanded Functions Dental Assistant and Dental Radiology) that are required to work as a dental assistant in the state of Florida.

Our business office must be notified in writing 7 days prior to the class start date in order to transfer to another class date. If less than 7 days before start of Course a $100 Transfer fee will be charged.
